Former Agency Recruiter Now Trains Brand Ambassadors

Sometimes, you realize the grass is truly greener on the other side. 

Such was the case for Kenny Azama, a former marketing agency recruiter from LA. The 2012 graduate of UC Irvine first started out in the industry by accepting a job at an experiential marketing agency in Los Angeles as a Program Manager. It wasn’t long before he realized that the staff he was hiring seemed be to have the time of their life.

“It was pretty fun putting together the promo events,” he said. “But I was always dumbfounded how the brand ambassadors I was hiring were making way more money and having way more fun than I was.”

Kenny continued at his job for a couple of years, later becoming dissatisfied with his 9-5 office routine and instead eager to jump into this other world of brand ambassador work. He left his job to begin working promo jobs in the field, hasn’t looked back since.

As his resumé as a BA began to grow and Kenny began to really excel at his new career, he started getting a lot of questions from others asking how they too could be a part of this amazing industry.

“I figured I would throw up a website and start teaching people and that’s how my website, Brand Ambassador World, came to be,” he shares. “Being a Brand Ambassador has allowed me to work with the most amazing brands, get access into the coolest events, and travel all over the nation. It’s seriously got to be the best-kept side hustle secret!”

Since then, Kenny’s new company has grown immensely and he has helped thousands of people become brand ambassadors through his content. Now 4 years deep into the experiential marketing industry, he offers both free and paid content to support brand ambassadors worldwide – one of those programs being the Brand Ambassador Blueprint.

FUN FACTS ABOUT KENNY: 

What is the funniest thing that’s ever happened to you while working a promo?

“Oh boy…There was this one time I had back-to- back shifts so I packed my toothbrush and toothpaste to freshen up in between the two gigs. Normal, right? Well during my break, I went to go brush my teeth and the toothpaste tasted kind of funny but I didn’t think anything of it. All of a sudden, my lips and gums got really numb and I started panicking! It turned out that instead of packing my toothpaste, I packed and used my dad’s hemorrhoid cream by accident!

Needless to say, I texted my boss to say I’d be a little late to the second gig…”

What are some of your future goals within the promo industry?

“Working as a Brand Ambassador and Tour Manager has allowed me to travel to and work at amazing events in 39 different states across the US. So one of my future goals now is to work promo gigs in all 50 states!”
